La Casa Rosa looks perhaps more Provenzal than Andaluz from the outside. But its pale pink tone actually complements perfectly the green of Roche’s umbrella pines. The house underwent a major refurbishment in 2009, project that was directed by a local architect who did an excellent job creating a house for all seasons and all times of day. La Casa Rosa is a house of contrasts: the large open space in the front garden (facing southeast) with its few pines gets full sun during most of the day; whereas the other side, where the main terrace is located, gets plenty of shade. The house therefore works well both in high-season and off-season, and also with a poniente wind or a levante. Inside, it is all about light and space; and there are loads of both! White abounds in the decoration, producing an overall feeling of simple but high-quality comfort.
La Casa Rosa enjoys what is regarded as a “double garden” in Roche, its 1,570m2 providing plenty of room for children to play and for members of large groups to find their own space should they want. It is a 600m walk to one of the Costa de la Luz’s most fabulous beaches.
The whole house, except for the main suite, is built on a single floor, which is basically divided up as the kitchen on the left, the main living area in the middle, and the bedroom wing to the right. The main living area itself is open-plan but is divided into a sitting room, dining area, and a more private reading area. The whole space is bathed in a soft light that enters through a window high above the sitting room and through the massive glass doors that give access to the north terrace. It is a beautifully designed multi-functional space that gets even bigger and better when the doors to the terrace are slid open. The terrace itself (all 75sqm of it) looks out to the pool in one corner of the garden and an exotic mix of mediterranean plants in the other. The terrace furnishing, like that throughout the whole house, is generous and of the highest quality.
The kitchen follows a similar brief: clean lines, ample spaces, and heaps of natural light. The fittings are modern and there all the accessories you will need. In the breakfast area, there are double doors, conveniently positioned so the table can be moved outside for coffee and toast in the full sun. Off the kitchen is the utility room and the sixth (single) bedroom with its small bathroom.
The bedroom wing is home to four rooms (3 bedrooms and a snug/fourth bedroom), the latter opening on to the garden and pool beyond. Two of these rooms have twin beds that can be made up as singles or doubles, one has a single with a pull-out bed below, and the snug has a (1.60m) sofabed. So, the wing can sleep 8. There are two bathrooms. The main suite (bedroom, dressing room, bathroom) has the first floor to itself, complete with balcony on which to enjoy the morning sun.
In short, La Casa Rosa is a house for those looking for space and high quality; real comfort on the beach!
It is about 600m to the local shop, pharmacy, bar, and childrens’ playground. Roche also has its own tennis courts and five-a-side football pitches. In the summer months, there are several beach bars/restaurants to choose from, and within a 5-10 minute drive you have a larger selection of places to eat all year round. The area offers an endless list of activities, information on many of which you will find here on our website and on our Facebook page. And if you book with us, we provide you with detailed information on all our recommendations, details on local amenities, and our up-to-date guide to the best of everything! You could spend a wonderful holiday here without a car, and just hire bikes; but, assuming you will have a car, it’s 15 minutes to Conil, 20 minutes to the hill-top village of Vejer-de-la-Frontera, 30 minutes to Cadiz, 40 minutes to Tarifa and Jerez, and 90 minutes to Seville, all of which are well worth visiting. So, it’s good to have a car and probably worth coming for two weeks rather than one!!!!
