Casa Rabat
Casa Rabat is what we refer to as a generous 4-bedroom house, which basically means there is loads of room for the maximum capacity of 10 people. It is a comfortable house built in U-shape around its Andalusian central yard complete with all details, including a Sevillano-style awning that can be extended in the hottest days.
Built 20 years ago, Casa Rabat was designed as a main residence for its owners. As a result, everything is that much larger than you would expect to find at a traditional beach house: the double front doors take you into a wide airy reception area and sitting room (with its designer fireplace for the cooler season); the glass doors onto the courtyard beyond occupy the full length of the opposite wall, bringing in huge amounts of soft light from the north; and off one corner of the sitting room, open-plan, is a comfortable dining room for cooler evenings; the kitchen too is more than ample with high-quality fittings throughout.
The house is built on two floors: two large bedrooms with large ensuite bathrooms on the ground floor, and two more large bedrooms on the first floor sharing a bathroom. From the first-floor landing you have access onto a roof terrace, which makes for a perfect solarium, bathed in sun virtually all day and at any time of the year. Taking the house’s potential capacity up to 10 is the garden room. Located off the dining room, it was once the owner’s office but is now more of a snug. With glass on three sides, it looks out across the garden, the pool, and the courtyard. It has books, music, and a TV, and it makes for a popular additional bedroom!
The garden is a mix of umbrella pines and other indigenous plants. There is plenty of shade for the hotter summer months, but the pool has been carefully placed to get maximum sun all year. The garden has plenty of quiet corners for escaping to if you wish. As with everything at Casa Rabat, there is lots of space!
It is a 500m walk to a choice of two beaches: the fabulous Roche beach (all 8km of it) and the Cala Encendida cove. A walk of about 600m will take us to the local shop, pharmacy, a couple of bars and restaurants, and childrens’ playground. Roche also has its own tennis and padel courts and five-a-side football pitches. In the summer months, there are several beach bars/restaurants to choose from within walking distance, some of which are now staying open all year. A 5-minute drive will then provide you with a far larger selection of both bars and restaurants. The area offers an endless list of activities, information on which you will find here on our website, our Instagram and on our Facebook page. And if you book with us, we provide you with detailed information on all our recommendations, details on local amenities, and our up-to-date guide to the best of everything! You could spend a wonderful holiday here without a car, and just hire bikes; but, assuming you will have a car, it’s 15 minutes to Conil, 20 minutes to the hill-top village of Vejer, 30 minutes to Cadiz, 40 minutes to Tarifa and Jerez, and 90 minutes to Seville, all of which are well worth visiting.
