New house for 2016! The dunes form part of your garden, so you can’t get any closer to the beach than this! Wonderful sea views that take in the Island of Sancti Petri in the north and the Strait of Gibraltar in the south. There is no pool, but you just walk down the dunes and you are in the sea. Lounge on the chill-out deck built into the dunes under the juniper tree, or on colder evenings in the sitting room, watching the ships make their way in and out of the Strait. Either way, Pura Vista is pure beach house.
The entrance through the front door on the north-facing side of the house is a little deceptive: a shaded porch and trickling water in a small Japanese garden greet you; but once inside, the vista changes radically, with a long dining/sitting room bathed in sunlight and the Atlantic rollers framed in the large west-facing window. The sitting room and kitchen get the views, and the bedroom wing is behind. There are two double suites (one with a separate entrance) and one twin bedroom and two singles (one with bunk bed) that share the third bathroom. The well-equipped kitchen opens on to a kind of conservatory, the glass walls of which can be folded back to incorporate the terrace during the warm weather. Alongside, there is a large awning, which provides shade for the outside eating area under the palms. There is a nice lawn, which is separated from the neighbours by a low hedge, and then the chill-out deck and the beach beyond.
It is a 500m walk to the Roche shop, pharmacy, playground, and bar, and it is another 200m to the tennis courts. During the summer months, the nearest beach bar is just 200m along the sand; there is another one 1km in the other direction. Both are fantastic! With the car, it is 15 minutes to Conil, 20 minutes to the hill-top village of Vejer-de-la-Frontera, 30 minutes to Cadiz, 40 minutes to Tarifa and Jerez, and 90 minutes to Seville, all of which are worth visiting! But you may choose to stay at home and watch the waves and another spectacular sunset. Frontline houses are hard to come by on this coast (because, thankfully, it is not very built-up), so Pura Vista is quite a find. Generally, we tend not to take on houses without pools; but, believe me, you won’t miss it here!
