Bahari
A major refurbishment at the beginning of 2024 has generated a fabulous open-plan eating, cooking, and living space, which includes a large covered terrace with views over the fenced pool. With one of the Costa de la Luz’s best beaches less than 100m away, it makes for a perfect holiday home.
While Bahari is built on two floors, the first floor contains just the fourth bedroom (with bunk beds), its bathroom, and a roof terrace with a glimpse of the sea at the end of the street. Most of the accommodation is on the ground floor, which is divided between the bedroom wing on the one hand (two twin rooms that share a bathroom, and the main suite with its own bathroom and dressing room) and the newly refurbished living area on the other. The latter, despite being open-plan and airy, has clearly defined eating, cooking, and sitting zones, the sitting room having been thoughtfully split into two, one with the TV. Furnishings are in neutral shades with lovely splashes of colour. These, together with several house plants and the vegetation on the covered terrace, provide an exotic feel. The kitchen is spacious and extremely well designed: a central island means there is plenty of room for team cooking (and conversing!)
Step through one of the glass doors from the dining area into the garden and you find yourself in front of the built-in bbq area in one direction and the large covered terrace in the other. The terrace stretches half the length of the house, and after a long lunch it’s just two steps to the adjoining sitting area, where deep comfy sofas encourage an equally long siesta under the dappled shade of a bamboo roof. Large coloured pots full of strelitzias and ficus extend the exotic feel. In sight of the terrace is the pool, and on the other side of the house there is a reasonable stretch of lawn for playing.
It is just 300m to the local shop, pharmacy, a couple of bars and restaurants, and childrens’ playground. Roche also has its own tennis and padel courts and five-a-side football pitches. In the summer months, there are several beach bars/restaurants to choose from within walking distance, some of which stay open all year. A 5-minute drive will then provide you with a far larger selection of both bars and restaurants, and also with a choice of golf courses. The Costa de la Luz is less well known for its golf than the neighbouring Costa del Sol, but it has some first-class courses, such as Sancti Petri, Montecastillo, the beautiful Montenmedio, and many others. The area offers an endless list of other activities too, information on which you will find here on our website, our Instagram and on our Facebook page. And if you book with us, we provide you with detailed information on all our recommendations, details on local amenities, and our up-to-date guide to the best of everything! You could spend a wonderful holiday here without a car, and just hire bikes; but, assuming you will have a car, it’s 15 minutes to Conil, 20 minutes to the hill-top village of Vejer-de-la-Frontera, 30 minutes to Cadiz, 40 minutes to Tarifa and Jerez, and 90 minutes to Seville, all of which are well worth visiting.
