IARA Golf
IARA is a lot more than a nice house on a first-class golf course. The name itself provides some clues: the owner was drawn to the initials on a boundary marker between her fence and the fairway (in Spanish they stand for Instituto Andaluza de Reforma Agraria), but when she researched other possible meanings she found that Iara is also an indigenous name in Brazil, legend having it that Iara was a freshwater nymph who would entice men to the water with her mesmerising song. Sitting on the terrace, looking through the pines to the lake and sea beyond, it is clear why the name stuck!
The property has just (spring 2024) undergone a complete refurbishment, the result being an extremely stylish and comfortable house for eight people with top-quality fitments and generous spaces. Each bedroom has a roomy bathroom en suite, and the living areas are big, airy, and light. The latter look out over the Mar y Pinos course of the Real Novo Sancti Petri Club, and the views are exceptional: fairways, rough, pines, the lake, and the Atlantic just 1km away. The garden has been landscaped with the aim of minimising water consumption and optimising the views (an infinity pool fuses with the fairway behind, and a sunken chillout area has been positioned to get full sun during the day and the best of the famous Costa de La Luz sunset). It is total peace and quiet, even in high season, and each evening you will be treated to a display of birdlife: egrets, hoopoes, bee-eaters, cranes and storks, sandpipers, depending on the time of year.
The accommodation is on two floors. The ground floor contains the sitting room (opening onto the covered terrace and pool), an open-plan kitchen/dining area that opens onto the outdoor dining area, the main bedroom suite with its own terrace and views, a twin bedroom suite, and a small TV room. An impressive staircase dominates the entrance hall and leads up to the first floor, which is home to the other two bedroom suites and a stunning reading room with pitched roof that stretches across the whole width of the house. Its glass doors open onto the roof terrace and shaded chillout, which has even better views than the one on the ground floor. And this is where you will probably spend most evenings!
It is a 20-minute walk (2-minute drive) to the most fabulous 8km beach with a choice of beach bars. It is less than a 5-minute drive to the nearest shops and restaurants in Novo Sancti Petri and to the nearest big supermarket. For the golfers, it is a 10-minute walk back to the first tee, you have a good choice of other golf courses within a 5-minute drive, and the beautiful courses at Montenmedio and Montecastillo are 20 minutes and 40 minutes away respectively. But the area offers an endless list of other activities too, information on which you will find here on our website, our Instagram and on our Facebook page. And if you book with us, we provide you with detailed information on all our recommendations, details on local amenities, and our up-to-date guide to the best of everything! You could spend a wonderful holiday here without a car, and just hire bikes; but, assuming you will have a car, it’s 15 minutes to Conil, 20 minutes to the hill-top village of Vejer, 30 minutes to Cadiz, 40 minutes to Tarifa and Jerez, and 90 minutes to Seville, all of which are well worth visiting.
