Pitusas (carbon-neutral house)
The Roche beach is just 600 metres away (close enough to hear the waves at night), and the outdoor living space and pool were newly built during the winter of 2017/18. The net result is a charming and practical little beach house that will suit both couples and families.
The main living area inside has also been refurbished, the aim being to fuse it as naturally as possible with the terrace. This has been achieved, creating a large and bright open space (kitchen /sitting room/ terrace). The furnishing is simple but not minimalist, and the colours light but still cosy, all of which makes for a comfortable and practical living experience. The south-facing location means that the (non-chlorine) pool and terrace get the sun virtually all day long (both in winter and summer), but the combination of sail-type awnings hung over the terrace mean you can tailor the shade to your requirements. And if things do get too hot, there is air-conditioning throughout. There is also heating and a fire if you happen to be here in the cooler months.
Accomodation at Pitusas is on a single floor. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, none of them particularly large, but they all have comfortable beds with brand new, high-quality mattresses. The main bedroom looks over the pool and has its own bathroom en suite, while bedrooms 2 and 3 share the second bathroom. One of these has twin beds and the other has bunk beds and can be set up to sleep one, two, three or four people. The kitchen has everything you will need. There is a second outdoor eating area in the back garden, with a traditional built-in BBQ. This covered space makes for a useful alternative in those rare days when a strong levante wind is blowing.
A walk of about 400m will take us to the local shop, pharmacy, a couple of bars and restaurants, and childrens’ playground. Roche also has its own tennis and padel courts and five-a-side football pitches. In the summer months, there are several beach bars/restaurants to choose from within walking distance, some of which are now staying open all year. A 5-minute drive will then provide you with a far larger selection of both bars and restaurants. The area offers an endless list of activities, information on which you will find here on our website, our Instagram and on our Facebook page. And if you book with us, we provide you with detailed information on all our recommendations, details on local amenities, and our up-to-date guide to the best of everything! You could spend a wonderful holiday here without a car, and just hire bikes; but, assuming you will have a car, it’s 15 minutes to Conil, 20 minutes to the hill-top village of Vejer, 30 minutes to Cadiz, 40 minutes to Tarifa and Jerez, and 90 minutes to Seville, all of which are well worth visiting.
